Meet The Team

Amy Fowler

Amy supports the Food Hub with finance and marketing and is based in Dalry. She is also a yoga teacher, mum to two young children, and a food lover. Amy loves to cook and grow her own produce and is inspired by the Food Hub's mission to improve rural access to good food.

Lucy Smithies

Lucy has a background in education and has worked in a few different roles within various teaching and learning environments, as well as having an animal science background. She has many years of practical experience working with animals of all shapes and sizes and has grown food since being a teenager. Since moving to Galloway she has immersed herself in community projects supporting food, farming and the environment. She is engaged in positive climate action and supporting localised resilient, regenerative food systems for the benefit of people and planet. Lucy lives in the South Machars with her partner Sam on an old farm steading with some land that they are developing into a micro market garden and wildlife haven. They are also one of our local producers (The Plant Farm)! She enjoys being outdoors as well as being artistically creative in many ways, when she has time and can put this skill into good use with her marketing role for the Food Hub.

Michele Owen

Michele lives in Dalry with their husband and son, making the move five years ago to be closer to family. As both a volunteer and someone who supports others, they understand just how vital it is to feel valued, recognised, and nurtured. Michele also runs a childminding service for local families and has an extensive background in customer service. When not working or volunteering, Michele can often be found singingwith community groups or at the occasional open mic night. Michele brings energy, compassion, and a genuine love for people to everything they do. At the Galloway Food Hub, they bring a people-first approach, a passion for community, and a commitment to making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and supported.

George White

George is a previous volunteer and advocate for the Food Hub and in the role of our Produce & Logistics Coordinator is enjoying getting to know our amazing producers and welcoming new ones. Outside of working here, he helps run the 'Guid Kitchen' grocery box scheme in Dumbarton and previously worked for the 'Made Guid' grocery shop. He is vegan and campaigned for farm animal rights at World Animal Protection for many years so is delighted to be working with farmers caring for their animals and providing an alternative to industrial farming.
